Privacy policy

Your data, our promises.

What we collect

When you create a NewNews account we collect: your email address, an encrypted password (or a Google sign-in identifier if you sign in with Google), the investor style, themes, and watchlist tickers you select during onboarding, your timezone, your preferred delivery time and channels, and your Telegram chat ID if you connect Telegram.

If you use a paid plan, we collect a Stripe customer ID and a Stripe subscription ID. We never see or store your full card details — those are handled by Stripe directly.

We log technical metadata (briefing generation status, source counts, delivery results) so we can deliver and debug the service. We do not sell or share this data.

What we use it for

Strictly to generate, deliver, and improve your morning briefing. We use your themes and watchlist to choose which markets, tickers, and sources we scan. We use your delivery time and timezone to schedule your briefing. We use your email or Telegram chat ID to send the briefing. We use your subscription state and active feature flags to know which features to include.

Who we share it with

We work with these subprocessors to run NewNews:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Anthropic — the language model that writes your briefings. Your themes, watchlist, and the market and news material we fetch are sent to Anthropic during generation. We use prompt caching so the system prompt is identical across users — your themes and watchlist are the only user-specific input.
  • Resend — email delivery.
  • Telegram — if you opt in to Telegram delivery.
  • Stripe — payment processing when paid plans are available.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Upstash — rate limiting.
  • Notion — if you connect Notion, your briefing content is delivered to your Notion workspace.
  • Sentry — error monitoring. When something fails we send diagnostic data so we can fix it; personal identifiers (your email, auth tokens) are scrubbed before transmission.

To build your briefing we query these providers (we send your watchlist tickers, themes, and search terms — never your email or identity):

  • Finnhub — market data: quotes, company news, and the earnings/macro calendar for the tickers on your watchlist.
  • Tavily — live web search for your themes.
  • xAI (Grok) — real-time signal from X (FinTwit).

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train any model.

Legal basis for processing

Under the GDPR we process your data on two bases: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you give when you create an account and accept this policy, and the performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)) — we cannot generate or deliver your briefing without the data described above. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

Your rights

You are in control of your data:

  • Export — download everything we hold for you as JSON from Settings → Your data.
  • Delete — permanently erase your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete account. This is immediate and irreversible.
  • Unsubscribe — stop briefing emails with the one-click link in any email we send.
  • Correct / change — update your preferences any time in Settings.

Under GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), PDPA, LGPD, and similar laws you also have the right to access, object to, or restrict processing. For anything the self-serve tools above don't cover, email us at newnews.help.contact@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

International data transfers

Several of our subprocessors are based in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the EU/UK, we rely on the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses (or an equivalent approved transfer mechanism) to keep it protected to the same standard.

Cookies

We use first-party cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we'll email you and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
